Yvonne Strahovski… need we say more? In our 4th Comic-Con coverage, Mel & Liz finally nailed a press room interview with Yvonne Strahovski! They also had great interviews with Chris Fedak, Ryan McPartlin, Zachary Levi, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Vik Sahay, and Scott Krinsky.

Everyone was a little emotional at what was most likely Chuck’s final appearance at Comic-Con. But take heart! Shooting has already begun on season 5, which begins in its new Friday 8/7c time slot on October 21st. It’s coming fast!

We will be taking another much needed podcast hiatus until Chuck returns in October. Please visit ChuckTV.net for all your Chuck needs, and also www.chuckpodcast.com to catch up on old podcast interviews.

090 – Oh, Boy! & Robert Duncan McNeill Interview  –  May 19th, 2011

Click to play video on Blip.tv

Oh, boy! Chuck is renewed… Morgan has the intersect… Chuck & Sarah are married… Volkoff is now Winterbottom, and he & Vivian have given Chuck & Sarah a billion dollar wedding present… Team Bartowski now owns the Buy More and are mercenaries for hire… Yowzer!

The season 4 finale, Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger, was an amazing, game-changing episode in all respects. It was intense, full of action, yet tugged at the heart-strings, and even drew some tears on the podcast! We have a lot of fun talking all about it, and reliving all our favorite moments. So many Russians…

And if that’s not enough, Mel had a great interview with Chuck executive producer Robert Duncan McNeill, who also directed Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger. He takes us behind the scenes of the finale, hints at season 5, and will not confirm or deny whether a certain Bartowski could be back…

PLEASE NOTE: This is the last Podcast before Comic-Con San Diego in late July, as we will be taking a much needed break. Please visit ChuckTV.net for all your Chuck needs, and also www.chuckpodcast.com to catch up on old podcast interviews.

089 – Season 5 is Alive!  –  May 11th, 2011

Click to play video on Blip.tv

Season 5 is alive! Very reliable sources (Ausiello, Variety, Deadline, and others) are reporting that against all odds, NBC will be renewing Chuck for a fifth season! NBC has not yet made an official announcement, but it could come at any time, and certainly by Sunday at 2pm, when they announce their fall line-up in a conference call.

Chuck is firing on all cylinders… the writers have certainly found their groove, as evidenced in the awesome “Chuck vs. the Last Details,” written by Henry Alonso Myers and Kristin Newman. We have a lot of fun talking all about this episode!

Let’s thank Chuck’s advertisers, who certainly played a big part in seeing Chuck renewed — in addition to keeping up the #NotANielsenFamily Twitter campaign, why don’t you find a way to incorporate one or more of Chuck’s advertisers into your finale party, and then tell them about it!

Please note: many apologies, as there was a technical issue with Gray’s video this week. and much of it is out of sync.

Click to play video on Blip.tv

It’s girls’ night yet again, as Gray was sick this week. Never fear… Mel & Liz were in top form, discussing the action-packed Chuck vs. Agent X.

This week saw the return of Ray Wise, fun Chuck-style bachelor and bachelorette parties, Jeff enjoying torture, Ellie discovering Chuck’s secret and contributing greatly to the team, Casey finding the mom he wished he’d had… and a mind-blowing reveal of Agent X’s true identity and nature. Yowzer!

Make sure to watch the penultimate episode of season 4 live on Monday night at 8/7c. Join in the Chuck chat at ChuckTV.net, and participate in the wegiveachuck.com #NotANielsenFamily campaign. Chuck co-creator Josh Schwartz says it’s working, and asks us to keep it up!

087 – Daddy Issues  –  April 22nd, 2011

Click to play on Blip.tv

Click to play video on Blip.tv

This week’s episode of Chuck, written by fan favorite writers Rafe Judkins and Lauren LeFranc, was Chuck at its best! We had comedy, action, Sarah’s hilarious impression of a Chuck intersect flash, and lots of tender moments dealing with both Sarah’s dad and also Casey’s revelation to Kathleen.

Gray was absent this week as he started his William Shatner show and was in a little over his head, but Mel and Liz are in top form. If you stick around for the spoiler section, you’ll see Mel weave some season end theories that rival Chuck’s TRON poster!

Chuck is on a repeat this week (the excellent “Chuck vs. the Honeymooners,” also written by Rafe and Lauren), and new episodes will be back May 2nd, in Chuck vs. Agent X. Make sure to watch live, and tweet the advertisers you see! Go to wegiveachuck.com for details. The podcast will be back that week also.

Fried Gear – Donations Needed [UPDATED]  –  March 25th, 2011

Unfortunately, an expensive audio interface device I use for my podcasting went literally up in smoke last night.  It comes at an awkward time, because I am between day job gigs and cash flow is tight.

Can you please spare a donation, to help replace it?  Consider the value you’ve received from our 85 high quality podcasts with 115+ interviews.  Even DVD box sets have only a fraction of the behind the scenes content we have offered.

Every little bit helps…  No amount is too small (nor too big).

[UPDATE 3:15pm EST]
I’m absolutely blown away by the responses! The cost of the audio device is now covered, and some extra can go toward replacing a fried laptop I use heavily for podcasting, and also an upcoming yearly server bill. If you haven’t had a chance to donate, these other needs are still pending. That said… countless thanks to all!

Many thanks,
Gray.

With 5 weeks at a 1.7 rating, Chuck seems to have found a very consistent core audience. However, many are concerned, as shows with much higher than 1.7 have been canceled.

Is Chuck safe? Is Chuck doomed? This week we devote almost a half hour to discussing the factors that affect ratings and renewal, including some inside information that casts new light on the issue. What is syndication, and how does it factor in? Can international fans make a difference? What is the most effective use of our energies? We tackle it all.

We round out the episode with a lively discussion about the very fun “Chuck vs. the First Bank of Evil,” and of course the latest news and spoilers!

Oh no! Han and Chewie are separated! The bromance was in trouble this week, as Chuck and Morgan came to some tough decisions. But come through they did, in Chuck vs. the Masquerade, a fun episode written by Rafe Judkins and Lauren LeFranc.

Is new character Vivian Volkoff as innocent as she seems? What’s behind the bunker doors? And how much fun were Sarah’s angel wings?!

Mel updates the latest Chuck fashion tips, which have quickly become one of the hottest new features at ChuckTV.net. Plus, we give some advice on how to make sure your ratings voice is heard.

081 – The Cat Squad  –  February 19th, 2011

We got a deeper look at Sarah’s past this week in Chuck vs. the Cat Squad, written by Nicholas Wootton. Mini Anden‘s Carina was back, Lou Diamond Phillips played a great villain, and we got a solid Charlie’s Angels vibe, harkening back to Chuck 315′s Hart to Hart theme,

While it was a lot of fun, the episode wasn’t universally enjoyed by all the fans, and we talk about a lot of the reasons why, plus what there was to like, and also some interesting speculations regarding a prediction made by MamaB in episode 401.

Of course, we round out the episode with the latest news and spoilers!
