Chuck vs the Podcast, the original star-studded podcast for NBC’s Chuck, is hosted by Toronto-based reality TV video editor / writer Gray Jones and co-hosted by Mel and Liz, creators of ChuckTV.net, the world’s most popular Chuck fan site.
Since we began in January, 2008, we have placed a high priority on getting true behind the scenes content. As a matter of fact, in our 41 episodes (as of February 2010) we have averaged one interview with a Chuck cast or crew member per episode, including one time that we had 16 interviews in a single podcast (episode 020, “It’s Rally Time”)!
These interviews have included all of the regular cast, many guest stars, the composer, and many of the writers, directors, producers, and editors. We’ve even interviewed a studio tour guide!
We cover most pertinent conventions and fan events, usually with at least one reporter on scene. At major conventions we also offer exclusive press room interviews with Chuck’s cast and creative team.
We have measured between 15,000 and 70,000 listeners per podcast, from at least 21 countries around the world. We are usually in the top 50 overall out of over 75,000 podcasts worldwide at Podcast Alley, often breaking the top 20, and are consistently ranked among the top TV podcasts, including an unbroken stint at #1 from December 2008 through January 2010.
All three of us were key contributors to the Chuck renewal campaign in spring 2009. Gray conceived the “Watch, Buy, Share” campaign, and Mel & Liz implemented it (with a new “Write” component) with amazing results. Gray’s “Save Chuck” iReport plea led him to be chosen to appear on CNN with Chuck stars Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez. Chuck show runner Josh Schwartz credited ChuckTV for their tremendous value in the renewal campaign at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con.
Special thanks go to occasional co-host Lou, reporter Roz, also Chad Margetts for his amazing logos and artwork. Also, special thanks must go to the Chuck cast, creative team, and support people, who have been tremendously helpful in facilitating interviews and communication with the fans. Lastly, we want to thank you — the fans — for your votes, donations, emails, comments, and all other ways you have supported us!
